Understanding and Setting Up Restreams

In your request, please specify that you would like to enable the Restreaming feature for your account and a brief description of how you will use it.

What is Restreaming?

Restreaming lets you broadcast your live content to multiple social media platforms simultaneously. Instead of creating separate streams for each platform (which would strain your resources), you can send a single stream that gets distributed to all your chosen destinations.

Creating a New Restream

Required Fields

As shown in the configuration screen:

1. Name (Required)

   • Give your restream a descriptive name
   • Example: "YouTube Channel Weekly Show" or "Facebook Gaming Stream"

2. URI (Required)

   • This is where you'll enter the streaming credentials from your target platform
   • Format: {RTMP_URL}/{STREAM_KEY}

   Real-world examples:

   • YouTube:

     rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/abcd-1234-wxyz-5678
     

   • Facebook:

     rtmp://live-api-s.facebook.com:80/rtmp/FB-1234567890
     

   • Twitch:

     rtmp://live.twitch.tv/app/live_123456789_xyzabc
     

3. Stream (Required)

   • Select the content you want to restream
   • You can choose between:
     • Live Stream: Your actual live broadcast
     • Live Imitation: Pre-recorded content that plays like a live stream

4. Active Toggle

   • Enable this when you're ready to start broadcasting
   • You can leave it disabled while setting up or between broadcasts

Platform-Specific URI Setup

YouTube

1. Go to YouTube Studio

2. Click "Go Live"

3. Choose "Stream"

4. You'll see:

   • Stream URL (RTMP URL)
   • Stream key

5. Combine them with a forward slash:

   {Stream URL}/{Stream key}
   

Facebook

1. Go to Facebook Creator Studio

2. Click "Create Live Stream"

3. Select "Use Stream Key"

4. Combine the provided server URL and stream key:

   {Server URL}/{Stream key}
   

Twitch

1. Go to Twitch Creator Dashboard

2. Click "Settings" → "Stream"

3. Find your Primary Stream key

4. Format as:

   rtmp://live.twitch.tv/app/{your_stream_key}
   

Tips for URI Configuration

• Always test your URI before going live
• Keep your stream keys private
• Some platforms refresh stream keys periodically - make sure to update your restream settings
• If streaming fails, double-check for typos in the URI
• Maintain a backup of working URIs for quick troubleshooting

Managing Your Restream

Once configured, you can:

• Monitor the live status
• Toggle activation as needed
• Update URIs if platforms change their credentials
• Select different content sources

Remember to always verify your platform's specific streaming requirements and limitations before starting your broadcast.
