NVOD, or Near Video-On-Demand, is a type of video-on-demand (VOD) service that allows users to access video content at a specific time, but with a shorter wait than traditional VOD services. With NVOD, the same video content is available on multiple channels or streams, and is shown at the same time, but with a few minutes of delay between each stream. This allows users to start watching the video almost immediately, without having to wait for the entire video to be downloaded or buffered. NVOD is often used by cable and satellite television providers to offer VOD services, and can be useful for popular or time-sensitive content, such as live sports events or new movie releases.
